HomeAid to Honor Pardee Homes CEO

2008-03-15

HomeAid’s Los Angeles/Ventura chapter has chosen Pardee Homes President and CEO Michael McGee as its Honoree and Humanitarian Award recipient. HomeAid will recognize McGee at its annual “Hearts Building Homes” gala, Saturday, May 31, at the Air Force One Pavilion of the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley.

A leading national non-profit provider of housing for America’s temporarily homeless, HomeAid works in partnership with the Building Industry Association to build and renovate transitional housing. HomeAid partners with service agencies that provide secure shelter, support and skills to these families and individuals, helping them regain self-sufficiency.

The “Hearts Building Homes” tribute dinner recognizes those who consistently support Home Aid Los Angeles/Ventura by providing materials, labor and financial assistance for housing development programs, and by contributing volunteer hours to outreach and public awareness activities. The Humanitarian Award is the chapter’s highest acknowledgement.

“I deeply appreciate this honor, because it comes from an organization that is unsurpassed for its generosity and exceptional capabilities in assisting the transitionally homeless,” said McGee. “The HomeAid/Building Industry Association partnership makes a real and positive difference on behalf of the less fortunate, and everyone at Pardee Homes is proud to be part of this effort.”

McGee added that Pardee Homes has supported HomeAid since 1994 with cash, in-kind donations and volunteer labor. The company’s diverse contributions are devoted to HomeAid National and to chapters in Los Angeles, the Inland Empire, Orange County, San Diego, Northern California and Las Vegas.

“Mike McGee is one of the building industry’s true humanitarians, and he leads a company that is renowned for its generous spirit and heartfelt community outreach,” said Jennie Meredith-Cowart, Executive Director, HomeAid Los Angeles/Ventura. “Our chapter is delighted to see the Humanitarian Award going to Mike, and we look forward to a wonderful celebration of Mike and his fellow honorees.”

Cowart said “Hearts Building Homes” would also celebrate the outstanding help from seven additional organizations and individuals: Alliance Bank; Boys Town of California; Eriksson Tile; Girl Scout Troop #756; Salvatore Gonzalez, City of Oxnard Housing Director; Lennar Homes Orange Coast Division and Outdoor Dimensions. “We congratulate them and appreciate them for their gracious support of the HomeAid mission,” she said.

HomeAid invites reservations and sponsorships on behalf of its annual “Hearts Building Homes” fund-raising event, which will include Air Force One tours, silent and live auctions and dinner. For more information, call HomeAid Los Angeles/Ventura at 818-889-9494.

Established in 1921, Pardee Homes is one of the nation’s most prominent multi-regional builders, with regional operations in Corona, Sacramento, San Diego, Valencia and Las Vegas. Pardee Homes emphasizes master-planned communities that include schools, parks and preserved open space, and has earned wide recognition for quality construction, customer service, green and sustainable building practices and dedication to the educational and civic goals of the communities in which it builds.

HomeAid’s national organization has recognized McGee and Pardee Homes for enduring support. The company was also honored in the 2008 National Housing Endowment (NHE) program, which noted a Pardee Homes/HomeAid renovation in its Builder Achievement Award for Outstanding Community Service. NHE honored just 12 builders nationally.

Pardee Homes is the first company to win a Hearthstone BUILDER Humanitarian Award, the homebuilding industry’s largest and most prestigious philanthropic awards program. All previous honors have gone to an individual within a company.
