Flooring Trends in 2011: Start with Value

The economy has made today’s homeowner more value conscious. Every dollar spent on upgrading your home needs to perform. And when it comes to flooring, products that deliver quality, comfort and stylish innovation (at the right price) are in demand.

Topping the Charts. Year after year, carpet continues to lead in retail flooring sales, currently commanding about 60% of market share. Who doesn’t love that warm, cushy feel underfoot? And manufacturers continue to fuel demand with more fashion-oriented options at all prices. Think color. Style. Patterns. Materials.

An Emerging Category. Vinyl is staging a comeback too. But this isn’t your mama’s vinyl. Luxury vinyl is just as easy-to-clean, stain-resistant, and durable as ever. But today’s vinyl also has the ability to closely mimic the look of high-end materials such as tumbled marble, stone and exotic hardwoods for a fraction of the cost. (Shhh. No one needs to know that your new flooring is actually family-friendly and budget-friendly!)

The Biggest Growth. The green market in residential flooring is flourishing – thanks to 1) trend setting homebuilders (like Pardee Homes) who increased consumer awareness and 2) commercial demand which helped lower prices. Today, it’s easy to find product lines that boast high recycled content and natural materials from sustainable sources. Some of our favorites include:

• Carpet with fibers made from 100 percent postconsumer food and drink containers (standard in a Pardee home).
• Lyptus® wood floors from Weyerhaeuser which are harvested from a quickly rejuvenating resource grown in managed forests that preserve native ecosystems.

Lyptus wood flooring--green, and beautiful, too!

• Cork flooring taken from the bark of the cork oak tree which grows back and can be harvested repeatedly without harming the tree.
• Bamboo flooring harvested from bamboo grass, a quickly rejuvenating resource.

Are you interested in value? Comfort? High-style? Green? Those are our priorities too. Visit PardeeHomes.com to learn more.

Another Smart Solution from a Homebuilder you trust.

I completely agree. I believe that flooring is one of the most important design concepts when planning the design and decor of your home. I always recommend to my clients that flooring be the first consideration in a project. My favorite is high quality dark wood flooring.
