Gifts and Good Cheer

It’s no secret that 2013 was a challenging year for many. Yet, on a bright note, many organizations stepped up to lend a hand, especially during the holidays. Pardee Homes is pleased to support a number of community groups who aim to make life a little easier for those in need.

In each region, employees decided where to put available dollars and many added to the kitty from their own pockets with donations of time and money. Many organizations made the holidays a little brighter, including:

Olive Crest Children’s Ranch helps meet the needs of kids in crisis by providing safe homes, counseling and education for abused, neglected at-risk children and their parents. Pardee Homes’ employees wrapped gifts, filled personalized stockings and provided tickets and spending money for Knott’s Berry Farm and an Anaheim Ducks hockey game for the 24 teens that live there.

Building Industry of America hosts an annual Holiday Bike Drive to purchase bikes and helmets for underprivileged children. The Pardee Homes San Diego team is a staunch supporter and helped fund gifts of 10 bikes and helmets.

Home Start Adopt a Family allows families struggling in the San Diego area to submit wish lists and be adopted for the holidays. Donations included toys, food, clothing and other necessities to make the holidays happy.

HomeAid San Diego’s shelter development program that provides housing for the transitionally homeless, received a monetary donation.

RAIN Transitional Living Center provides housing, plus training and resources, to help individuals and families successfully transition to independent living. Pardee Homes’ employees have supported adults and children in the RAIN Transitional Center since 2003, providing each child a wrapped gift and each adult a $25 gift card, plus provided donations of gently used clothing and accessories and new or used books.

The Shade Tree Shelter provides a temporary home and assistance to women and children in crisis. Pardee Homes’ Las Vegas division has long been a supporter of the Shade Tree Shelter and brought smiles to women and children there during the holidays with personal items, gifts and gift cards.

Pardee Homes’ holiday giving program has become a bright spot in the corporate culture of the company, allowing employees to celebrate the spirit of the season in a very special way. We applaud the organizations who are taking the lead to make life a little brighter for those in need.
