Color of the Year 2017

This year, global color authority Pantone has decided to go green. The organization, which releases its favorite color each year, has said goodbye to 2016 hues of the year, Rose Quartz and Serenity, and named Greenery as the 2017 Color of the Year. The color is described as a “fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring.”
Industry insiders anticipate Pantone’s annual announcement and watch closely for signs of a trend that will spread through home décor, beauty, fashion and design. The rest of us can just get inspired and use the hue in fun ways. Just in time for spring, look for the shade in an array of home décor items, such as paint, pillows, tablecloths and glassware.
The color goes particularly well with Pardee Homes’ dedication to green building. Pardee started its LivingSmart® program in 1998, committing to delivering higher-quality, better-performing homes for homebuyers well before most builders. LivingSmart features and options can save money and natural resources, and are designed to help residents live more sustainable and healthful lives.
In a statement, a spokesperson from the Pantone Color Institute, noted that “Greenery bursts forth in 2017 to provide us with the hope we collectively yearn for amid a complex social and political landscape,” adding that it satisfies a new desire to reconnect with nature.
A refreshing and revitalizing shade symbolic of new beginnings, Greenery reminds us to take a deep breath and reinvigorate. According to Pantone, the vibrant yellow-green hue was a natural evolution from the 2016 Colors of Year. The pastel Rose Quartz and Serenity signaled a need for harmony within chaos, but Greenery points to a desire to connect with our roots in nature, in an effort to reinvent ourselves, a more optimistic viewpoint.
From yoga mats to throw pillows, use Greenery to encourage well-being in your living and work spaces. Or get inspired and make 2017 the year to incorporate as many water- and energy-conserving efforts as possible in your home.
