Host a Grad Party
So you know a special graduate – congratulations! For all of his or her hard work, honor your grad with a memorable party that wows. Whether dinner on the deck, a pool party or an in-home celebration, a little creativity will send your grad off in style.
Personalize the Décor
School colors are a must for paper goods and balloons, but take your décor a step above. If your grad is an athlete, string up a clothesline and fill it with sports jerseys the grad has worn throughout his or her career. This works for cheer, dance and theatre aficionados, too. Use uniforms or costumes instead.
Gather assorted school photos from over the years. Or ask guests to bring favorite shots of themselves with the grad. Display the photos on a magnetic or corkboard, or even put out as table décor or in centerpieces using the plastic inserts florists use for cards. Adapt the idea above and string them up on a picture perfect clothesline.
One Smart Cookie
Create a fun cookie bar with an assortment of cookies and candy bars. Be sure to include rolled wafer cookies and tie them up with a ribbon to resemble mini diplomas. Provide small gift bags for guests to take home a few of their favorites. If you have a fire pit or barbecue grill, think about a special activity – make s’mores. Adult supervision, of course, is always recommended with smaller children.
Advice To Go
Create an advice station where guests can leave notes, wishes and advice for the grad. This project is easy and affordable, and will provide lasting memories for your graduate. Set out patterned note cards and pens. You can get creative on how to collect the cards — use a tree branch that guests can clip cards to with mini clothespins, or insert them in an antique birdcage or mailbox. Or use tower game wooden building blocks; construct a tower of guidance tidbits at the party. Then, collect and store them for later.
Oh, the Places You Will Go
Write inspirational quotes on chalkboards or place them in inexpensive frames. Try favorites like Dr. Seuss or Martin Luther King, Jr.
Set out a sign with your party hashtag to easily look at everyone’s photos later.
