Memorable Housewarming Gifts
At Pardee Homes, one of the things we like best is handing over keys to new homeowners. It’s an exciting first step toward a new life, where a house becomes a home, and it’s one of the most heartwarming parts of our job. It’s why we’re here.
We’ve seen a whole range of unique housewarming gifts from pets (not a good idea!) to cleaning supplies (useful, but not much fun). If you have a friend or loved one moving into a new home, we’ve got some great ideas for an inspired “Welcome to your new home!” gift! Go creative, practical or unique. Try:
Gift baskets. Tried and true, gift baskets are a simple and creative way to give a gift that can last well beyond the move-in date. Try a bottle of wine and some complementary cheeses and crackers. Herb-infused oils or vinegars are a wonderful treat for a foodie. Or create a combination of delicious fruit and family-friendly snacks, such as granola bars and fish-shaped crackers, which are sure to be welcomed by a crew after a tiring move.
Home improvement supplies. First time homebuyers especially might need hoses, rakes and gardening tools. Or consider a gift card to a nearby home improvement store.
Games. The young and young-at-heart will appreciate volleyball, croquet or water toys. Or consider a classic board game or Twister.
Potted or yard plants. If someone is excited about a new outdoor space, get them started with a nice plant or two. Consider something drought-resistant or native to the area or even herbs or vegetables.
Cookbooks. With the immense array of cookbooks available, you’re sure to find one to suit the tastes of the new homeowner.
Grilling supplies. A no-brainer for the barbecue enthusiast, choose sturdy utensils, brushes, skewers, charcoal or even a new grill.
Magazine subscriptions or Do-It-Yourself books. This is a fun way to encourage interest like woodworking, gardening or decorating.
Cool décor – decorative pillows, salt and pepper mills or personalized holiday ornaments are sweet and simple, but commemorate this milestone.
Paper products. Practical has its place. Everyone can use a giant warehouse store package of toilet paper, paper towels or other paper goods. These are especially nice to have on hand before all the boxes are unpacked.
